Svensson joins the Panthers
Björn Svensson joins ERC Ingolstadt! The 30-year old forward comes from the renowned Swedish club Färjestad BK.
"Björn is a fast skater and a hard worker", says Tommy Samuelsson. The headcoach of ERC Ingolstadt knows Svensson from the Swedish league SHL. "He has an excellent hockey education and will give us fresh energy. I am really happy that he has decided to take the challenge to play in DEL."
"We have had a close look at the players' market", says Jiri Ehrenberger, director sports of ERC Ingolstadt. "Due to injurys, we looked for an experienced forward who has played so far in the season and does not long time to get warm with the team." Svensson has played 31 games (3 goals, 3 assists) in SHL and 6 games in Champions Hockey League (1 goal, 3 assists).
"In the last couple of years, in Malmö, Björn had a bigger role", says Samuelsson and points his finger on Svensson's 14 goals last season. Svensson says: "When the opportunity came up to play for Ingolstadt, I was excited and decided to take it. I heard ERCI is a great organisation."
If everything goes well with the player's licence, Svensson will debut tonight versus Grizzlys Wolfsburg.
Björn Svensson will dress the Panther jersey with #91.
