Timo between the pipes
When the German national anthem will have been sung and the Starting 6 will be read, one player of ERC Ingolstadt will stand at the blue line: Timo Pielmeier will start between Germany's pipes today. Benedikt Kohl will be in the lineup versus Czech Republic, too.
It is the second duel of those two teams this week. Two days ago, the Czech beat Germany with a terrific offensive pressure in the second half of the game 7:2. This is why Germany's veteran Marcus Kink demands in the preview on the DEB-website „constancy for the whole 60 minutes“.
For the Czech, it has been the highest victory in the era of coach Vladimir Vujtek (since 2015). He expects a "similar spirit" in the second game, with energy until the very end of the game. It has been no surprise to see the Czech team in a furious attack as 14 players are decent members of KHL-teams. The Russian based KHL is said to be the second best league in the world after the North American NHL. The headlines in game 1, however, wrote players from the Czech Extraliga, such as Petr Holik or the "Brno-line". Two of the line gave their debut, one of them being the 24-year old Jan Kana whose uncle Petr Cajanek is a three time World Champion. Has the uncle gave him hints for his debut? Kana says, his uncle told him just to behave well...
