This is the final setting
Kärpät Oulu versus Frölunda Gothenburg - that is the final setting of this year's Champions Hockey League (CHL). The two teams qualified with draws in the return matches of the semifinals. For all the fans of skilled and fast hockey, the setting is just perfect.
Oulu had won 3:2 at Lukko Rauma one week earlier and got the lead in the second leg. Miko Pyorala scored in powerplay (27.). Toni Koivisto equalized rapidly (32., PP) but Markus Nutivaara made it 2:1 in the third period (42.). Five minutes before the end, Janne Lahti brought Rauma back with a powerplay-goal and guaranteed a thrilling crunch time. Oulu celebrated the third qualification for an European final, having lost in 2005 and 2006.
Frölunda, beat by Luleå Hockey in the final last season, had an easy one in the second leg versus HC Davos coming with a five goal lead from the first leg. Patrik Carlsson made it six after 4 minutes. The Swiss equalized the game by Andres Ambühl's powerplay-goal but could not get any close to swap the series.
