Two Panthers plus Draisaitl
German head coach Marco Sturm has nominated his roster for the upcoming trip to Latvia. Goalie Timo Pielmeier and D-man Benedikt Kohl (both ERC Ingolstadt) have been invited as well as NHL star Leon Draisaitl and Patrick Reimer (player of the year in German DEL). Young D Jonas Müller and the forwards Martin Buchwieser (Mannheim), Mirko Höfflin (Straubing) and Daniel Pietta (Krefeld) have not made the cut. Sturm says: "It is important to have a big part of the roster together already at this point of the preperation. It makes it easier for us to work at all details."
"I am happy to be parta of the national team", says Draisaitl from the Edmonton Oilers, another NHL shooting star aside of Tobias Rieder (Arizona Coyotes). "It is an honour to dress the sweater of one's country." After the win versus Sweden on Sunday, the German team travels to Riga (Latvia) on Wednesday. There are going to be two games versus Latvia this weekend (Friday, 6.30 pm and Saturday, 4 pm - live in Sport1). Head coach Sturm says, it is not only the competition in Euro Hockey Challenge and the preperation for the IIHF Worlds 2016 that make those games attractive. He also sees them "special" as Germany will try to make it to the Olympics in September in Riga, when a qualification tournament is going to be held.

Goal: Jenike (Nürnberg), Niederberger (Düsseldorf), Pielmeier (Ingolstadt)
Defenders: Akdag, N. Goc, Reul (alle Mannheim), Ankert, Mo. Müller (both Köln), Braun (Berlin), Brückner (Schwenningen), Ebner (Düsseldorf), Kohl (Ingolstadt).
