Thanks and good luck, Marco!
The final result at Deutschland Cup was beside the center of attention. Way more important than the fourth place of the German squad and the Russian victory was the goodbye to Marco Sturm. The former German head coach has accomplished what he has done already as a player: He heads to the NHL. The 40-year old former forward starts today as head coach of LA Kings. As he said in an interview with Eishockey News, he signed a contract over two years + option. Translated two English, he stated: "You can see that the Kings are looking into the future and plan with me on long term basis. That was a strong reason for me [to sign with them]."
Sturm, in the German federation since 2015 both as head coach and general manager, was a key for the German hockey. Under his lead, the national team won the silver medal in the Olympics 2018. This is the biggest success in the history of German hockey.
