Contract extension: Ville Koistinen
ERC Ingolstadt is delighted to announce that Ville Koistinen will be part of the team 2018/19. The offensive minded defender, a key player and star in the Panthers-squad, has agreed on a new two-year-contract.
Sports director Larry Mitchell signed Koistinen in January - and the Finnish d-man had an immediate effect on the Panthers' game: He scored 16 points in 15 remaining games in main round. In five playoff-games, the 35-year old veteran took about 30 minutes of ice-time each game and scored six times. The speedy and hard shooting Koistinen needed little time to become one of the fan heros.
Koistinen says: "The reason why I wanted to come back was how the organization handled me since day 1 when I came there in January. There is a great group of guys in the team as well. It was actually a pretty easy decision to make because I like the way Larry (Mitchell; sports director) is running things behind the doors and I know the way how Doug (Shedden; head coach) is kicking our asses at the rink and we have respect both ways."
Having played in leagues like NHL, KHL, SHL and NLA, Koistinen brings in a lot of experience and leadership. He won twice medals with Finnland at IIHF World Championships.
