Laliberte calls it a career
John Laliberte calls it quits: The 34-year old forward from Portland, Maine, will take the step into a regular job in the real estate development. ERC Ingolstadt agrees on terminating the contract and congratulates one of the greatest players of the organization’s history to a fabulous career.
“Tough and emotional decision”
Laliberte explains: “The situation came up where a great job opportunity came to me, as real estate developer in my hometown Portland. This is the career I have always thought I’d been into after hockey. I was trying to wrap my mind about in the last weeks. It was a tough and emotional decision. I think, at this time of my career it is the best for my family and me to moving on from Ingolstadt and from hockey.”
The forward will write a personal message to all the fans and sponsors of ERC Ingolstadt in the next days.
Goalgetter and Champion
Laliberte is one of the best players to have ever dressed the Panther-jersey. In six season, he managed to score 122 goals which rank him second in the organization’s goal getters. Scoring the 2:0 in the 7th final versus Kölner Haie in 2014 to win the championship have assured him an important place in the history of the club.
Laliberte entered DEL in 2009 via Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg. In 488 games, he scored 198 goals and 222 assists.
Caring father
Ingolstadt is proud to name John Laliberte part of his history, not only because he was an outstanding scorer but also because him being a great man and real part of the city. Sports Director Larry Mitchell sees Laliberte as a role model in every sense, glancing at the charity-project Michael T. Goulet Foundation the Lalibertes support.
