Head coach Kleinendorst extends his contract
Head coach Kurt Kleinendorst has extended his contract with ERC Ingolstadt. The organization has announced this on Sunday at the fan party at season’s end. Kleinendorst says: “The city and fans are great. We have a tremendous amount of potential in our team.”
Kleinendorst, who has been with the Panthers before as topscorer in the end of the 1980s, has been coach in Ingolstadt since November 2015. “The team had not found to its game for weeks”, says sports director Jiri Ehrenberger looking back. “Kurt Kleinendorst came and gave the team a clear concept and led it to victory.”
Under Kleinendorst, a 55-year old US-American, the Panthers collected 52 points in 31 games in the main round. Looking at his points-per-game-average, Ingolstadt would have finished as number four. With the lost weeks before, the Panthers took the eight spot overall and made the first playoff-round.
“We have got a good nucleus of players with contracts”, says Kleinendorst. “Now the focus is to bringing in the right players to make it work.”
“I am happy to continue working with Kurt”, says sports director Ehrenberger. “His experience and his devotion to tactics will be needed in the upcoming season. I expect a close league again. We want to be in the top-6.”
