11 seconds thriller

So close and yet so far: ERC Ingolstadt was on its way to the 1/8-final of Champions Hockey League. 11 seconds before the end of third period, however, Frölunda Indians equalized the two-goal-lead by the Panthers from game 1. The sudden death came in overtime by a brilliant solo-run of Göteborgs Ryan Lasch. The Panthers missed a big coup against one of Europe's topdog. ERC-headcoach Emanuel Viveiros says: "It hurts but I am also proud of my team."

Frölunda tried to score fast in the game and searched their opportunities which they mainly became in a powerplay at the half of the first period. The Panthers followed the game plane of their headcoach Emanuel Viveiros in detail, defended their house with passion and made it hard for the Indians to score. It was Pontus Widerstrom to made it 1:0 for Gothenborg shortly before the first break (20.).

Ingolstadt came out with braveness and was the better team in the second period. Although Danny Irmen (21.) and Jared Ross (22.) missed their chances as did Joel Lundqvist on the other side, the Panthers made it one-all. Alexander Barta (34.) pushed the puck into the goal in a powerplay.

Desperate of being two goals behind, Frölunda looked for a quick goal in the last period. Elias Fälth gave it to the technically strong and mobile Indians (42.). CHL's runnerup last year, Gothenborg, put a lot of preassure on Ingolstadt in the following minutes. With a strong Timo Pielmeier in front of the net and a strong effort of the team, the underdog gave the Indians a hard fight. Only 11 seconds to go, the bitter moment arrived when Lukas Bengtsson scored for Frölunda bringing his team to overtime. Ryan Lasch then brought his team to 1/8-finals versus Litvínov.

ERC Ingolstadt congratulates Frölunda Indians to reaching the next round and would like to thank for a great and thrilling series. Good luck in the next round!
