Zurich, Prague, Helsinki?

All eyes on Prague: Which teams will face ERC Ingolstadt in the competition for Europe's throne? Will it be the Swedish Champion Växjo Lakers, the glorious IFK Helsinki or the Scottish outsider Braehead Clan? Tomorrow, when the World Championship pauses, the draw for the new season of the Champions Hockey League will be held. The Panthers are placed in the second basket. The draw starts at noon and will be broadcasted live on www.championshockeyleague.net

48 teams are in the three baskets. ERCI can neither face the other German contendors in first round nor the other teams from the second basket. So there cannot be games versus CHL Champion Luleå, last year's rival Zug and Vitkovice or Vienna Capitals with former Panther-coach Jim Boni. "Strong opponents are guaranteed", says Claus Gröbner, CEO of ERC Ingolstadt, who will be at the draw in Prague. Expect Mannheim, all the Champions are possible contendors, for example Petr Taticeks former team HC Davos (Switzerland). Also, big names such as Sparta Prague, SC Bern or the Swedish clubs. Exciting trips would be certain picking Belarussian Grodno or the Wolves from Grenoble.

"Me, personally, I would like to meet teams from Northern Europe, but no matter how it comes: We will definitley experience interesting trips and classy hockey. We are looking forward to fantastic games!"

The map above gives you an overview on the possible opponents. Pick one of both baskets (blue name = basket 1, black name = basket 3) and select your favorites!
