Runner-up!
It has been a wonderful dream that vanishes now for ERC Ingolstadt. The Champions Cup does not stay in Ingolstadt, it goes to Mannheim. After a very tight and energetic series, favourite Mannheim wins the series with 4:2. Congratulations to the new Champion!
The Panther have lost game 6 after a 1:0-lead. Christoph Gawlik scored in his last occurence for Ingolstadt (29.). After a controversial penalty against the ERC and a great combination by Mannheim, Kurtis Foster made it one-all (32.). Andrew Joudrey gave the guests a 2:1-leag (44.). With Ingolstadt giving up their goalkeeper for a six skater to equalize, Jon Rheault scored the empty-netter to the victory.
"There's a huge disappointment", says centre Patrick Hager. "As we say: The runner-up is the first loser." Coach Larry Huras says, that he was "proud of my team. We have had a great development during the season and headed for the title." Wing John Laliberte states, he was sure the Panthers are ready to play a great upcoming season.
ERC Ingolstadt would like to thank all his partners and fans for an excellente season. Thanks also to all the DEL-teams for a nice competition.
