Long-term-deal with Oppenheimer
National forward Thomas Oppenheimer and ERC Ingolstadt have agreed on a five-year-contract. Jiri Ehrenberger, director sports of ERCI, says: "Thomas is a perfect match for us with his outstanding hockey-skills and his Bavarian descent. It will be a pleasure to see him play for us."
With only 27 years of age, Oppenheimer is already a veteran player with 492 DEL-games (116 goals, 102 assists). The native of Peißenberg, Upper Bavaria, gave his debut in German DEL in 2006 for Frankfurt Lions. He was honored as “rookie of the year” in 2007. After his debut in the German national team, Oppenheimer joined Hamburg Freezers that shortly have announced to cease its operations.
Oppenheimer, who became father one month ago, says: "I am happy to be in Bavaria where my family is at. ERC Ingolstadt is a great organization that works sustainable and is able to have success for years."
Claus Gröbner, CEO of ERC Ingolstadt, says: “I am outstandingly happy over that signing. He is going to take a key-role in our team and will be one of the faces of ERC Ingolstadt.”
