6 DEL2-clubs apply for promotion
Six clubs from Germany's second league DEL2 have applied within the stipulated period for a possible promotion to DEL. This is one of the requirements on which the leagues have agreed on in order to install a sporty system of promotion and relegation in 2017/18. The last team to make it into DEL by qualification on the ice have been the Straubing Tigers in 2006.
"We stress the seriousness of our efforts for installing a sustainable interlinking between the two leagues", says René Rudorisch, CEO of DEL2. The documents given by the clubs are now in examination. With a decision whether the system can be installed or not for 2018 one can expect within the next four weeks.
